Titles:

  1. The Name of This Book Is Secret
  2. If You're Reading This, It's Too Late
  3. This Book Is Not Good for You
  4. This Isn't What It Looks Like
  5. You Have To Stop This
Author: Pseudonymous Bosch

Summary: Follow Cass and Max-Earnest to help discover a secret. Not just any secret, one that very few of us know and use, that some are able to enjoy but not fully know, and others who are ... just miserable I presume and know nothing of it.

Spoiler: Each book has an invisible character, one of our five senses.
  1. The Name of This Book Is Secret          (Don't sniff it!)
  2. If You're Reading This, It's Too Late.    (Sshh! You aren't supposed to hear it!)
  3. This Book Is Not Good for You.            (if you taste it Bosch won't tell you!)
  4. This Isn't What It Looks Like.                (Close your eyes!)
  5. You Have To Stop This.                         (Keep your hands to yourself thankyouverymuch!)

Why did I pick this book up?: the authors name caught my attention due to its irregularity and that part of it sounds vaguely familiar to my name

Audience: 8-12 I would think

Impression: I began this book mainly out of curiosity. Boy was I in for a wonderful surprise! It's like Bosch took every course on writing and then decided to break every rule. I feel a younger child
would enjoy it for its plot while an adult would love the crazy spin of writing he incorporates in all 5
books. One paragraph may all start with /b/, chapters may be mixed up in sequence, Bosch may have completely left the book to have a snack!

Good mood read: Yes, with lots of laughter

~ Easy to read, easy going, happy, a page turner

I can't wait for my future children read these books.... or anyone really. Once they know it's written for children people brush this fantastic work aside. For shame people, for shame!!!

Handsome boy:

Title: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society

Authors: Mary Ann Shaffer, Annie Barrows

Short summary: This book is written all in letters. It revolves around the lives of Guernsey folk, most of whom are involved in the Society.

Time/Place: 1940s England (island of Guernsey)

Action: none really, some bits about WW2

Good mood read: most definitely

Twist at the end: somewhat in that I didn't expect it to end in the amazing way that it did

~ Happy, could not put down, easy read.

I wish I could put into words how completely awesome this book is. I missed the characters when I completed the book. I wished I was there in the background to watch the story progress. I wish Shaffer had written another book! I wish it was longer. I really just need to read it once a year, maybe around Christmas.

There are only a few books that stick with you, and this is one of those slices of heaven.
